FAQs

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about trivia games in Omaha, Nebraska.

If you question is not here feel free to ask here.

How much does it Does it cost anything to play live trivia?
Just like Karaoke this is always a free game to play.

How many people can play on a team?
You can have as many or as few people on a team as you like, but only one team per table and one table per team. Keep in mind that the more people you have adds to the diversity of useless knowledge, but the more people you will be sharing your prize money with.

How long does a trivia game last?
Each game takes about 2 hours to get through the whole live trivi game. I hope you like the people on your team. We will aslo be playing music before and after each game, so feel free to request any songs you couldn't hear during the game.

Where are the questions sourced?
All questions are sited from reputable resources that range from almanacs to websites. If you are ever in doubt of the questions origin, you can ask the trivia dj to let you know where the question came from.

What nights are live trivia games hosted?
New bars and restaurants are starting up soon, so the best way to find out is to check back to our site. The times and locations for live trivia games in Omaha are also printed on the back of the scorecard given to you at each game. You can also recieve emails if you wish by joining the club. Simply put "FanClub" in the subject line of your email. We will never share any of your personal information and rarely send out more than one email a month.

Where can I play if I am under 21?
Currently all participating bars and restaurants allow minors into their establishment. If you weren't aware... you cannot be served alcohol if you are under the age of 21, and therefore the prizes cannot be complimentary booze. Rest assured, you can use your winnings on good eats and carbinated sucrose water.

What kind of questions are you going to ask me?
The categories range from pop culture, entertainment, sports, geography, historic & current events, people, places, advertising, you name it. In fact, if you are particularly gifted in a category you didn't here, you are welcome to make the suggestion to the trivia DJ and we will be happy to accomidate you where we can.

How hard can I expect the questions to be?
The way the game is structured, the questions get suggestively harder along the way. It is always a challenge to write quesions that are hard enough to be challenging while maintaining a cheerful environment for everyone. While you may be really good and sports or movie trivia, world history or politics might be someone elses strong points. Every game is different and built to entertain you... and if you don't know diddly about music bring that friend with the cd collection you're always borrowing from.

How do I earn points?
By getting the questions right, of course. With the exeption of the Final Challenge Question, you can't lose points for wrong answers, so any guess is better than none at all. Points go up with every question during each round, making up a total of 120 possible points. If your team earns every last point you and you team can enjoy $50 at your Trivia on Tap bar of choice.

Can I change my answer?
Nope. Just one answer per question, please. You will ahve the length of an entire tune to come up with the best guess, so there is no rush to hand in the first thing that pops in your head. Just don't double guess yourself out of the right answer in the process.

Can I call a friend for help?
Sorry, the answer here is no. If you need to call your mom for the answer, you should just invite her in to play the game for you. There are very few rules to this game: (1) Don't shout out the answers! (sharing your answers with the rest of the room doesn't give your team much of an edge in winning the game. If you are having a hard time keeing quiet, try pacifying yourself with another drink from the bar) (2) NO OUTSIDE RESOURCES! (this includes pocket atlases, googling cell phones, PDA's hooked up to the interenet, and phone calls to the the smart girl you should have invited in the first place.)

How many questions are in the game?
The short answer... 21. There are 3 rounds of questions, each with 7 questions. If no one gets one of the questions right, the trivia DJ will typically give a "REDO" or replacement question. The last question of each round asks a multiple parted questions looking for more than one answer and giving your team one last chance to own the round with points for each part you get right.

Are the questions multiple choice?
Occasionally you will be asked a True/False or multiple choice question, but don't count on it. Taking these possibilities away can the game more challenging and questions more enjoyable for debate. Typically teams will have mulitple guesses and the challenge is... which is the best answer to turn in & who knows this question the best?

What kind of prizes can I win?
Every establishment is different. Depending on the bar or restaurant the 1st and 2nd round winners will win prizes like free pitchers, appetizers, and other swag. The grand prize is usually a complimentary bar tab or gift certificate to ejoy free drinks and food the next time you're in. Theoretically, you could eat, drink, and play trivia for free every night as long as you keep winning. Grand Prize amounts vary depending on the amount of teams playing on a regular basis, but you can usually expect $25 or more. This also effects how many final place winners we can have, so the more the merrier!

Can I use my winning for the same night?
Exeptions have been made for those just visiting the omaha area, but you strongly encouraged to use your winning the next time you're in. And if you're really crazy, you may just save them all up for the big party you were going to have at that bar anyway. Just make sure you find a sober driver or walk home.

Curses -- My question just isn't frequent enough to be listed here?
Can't find the answer to your question here. I'm sure it's a good one. Just put "QUESTION" in the subject line and send me an email. Who knows, you may have the question we are looking to add to the wall.
